THE FIRST ATOM BOMB

The first atom bomb was dropped on Hiroshima on August 6,1945 and the next one was dropped on Nagasaki three days later. The devastation, shattering in its magnitude, broke the morale of the Axis Powers and put an end to World WarII.
The human side of the story, involving the death of millions and the mutilation of perhaps an equal number in Hiroshima has been movingly told by Marcel Junod, who was the chief of the unit of the International Red Cross stationed in Japan during World WarII, in his book.. Warrior Without Weapons. This extract describes Junod's visit to the scene of the annihilation three weeks after the event.

BOOKS

A good book is the best of friends, the same today and forever.A good book is the purest essence of a human soul. Some books are to be tasted, others to be swallowed, and some few to be chewed and digested. Books without the knowledge of life are useless. If a book is worth reading it is worth buying. All books are divisible into two classes, the books of the hour, and the books of all time.It is books that teach us to refine our pleasures when young, and to recall them with satisfaction when we are old. A house without books is a body without a soul.Any child who has parents who are interested in him and has a houseful of books is not poor. The wise man reads both books and life itself.A book, like a landscape, is a state of consciousness varying with readers.

WAY TO SUCCESS

"WHERE THERE IS A WILL THERE IS A WAY"

This saying is a very valuable guide to success. The two qualities essential to success are perseverance and determination. In everything that one undertakes to do,one must have the determination and resolve to see the thing through.Difficulties and obstacles are bound to crop up in the course of attempt. But they can be overcome by a strong will.As the difficulties and disappointments are overcome, hope and encouragement will arise, and these will be helpful to get over further difficulties.Failure should never discourage a person from carrying out his plans.Wise persons should know that great things are achieved only by constant, untiring and hard work.Failures must be regarded only as stepping stones to success. Nothing great can be achieved without a strong will or a determined effort. Everyone who desires success must surely bear this motto in mind.
