WILDLIFE

We require wild plants and animals for food and nutrition, clothing and construction, fuel and energy, medicine and ornamentation and above all,to enjoy the numerous life forms present in their myriad colours on Earth.
But our needs and dependence on Nature have resulted in the use, overuse and abuse of the species and ecosystem.Forests and woodlands are destroyed by over-exploitation for timber;grasslands are destroyed by conversion into farmlands and overgrazing by domestic livestock;wetlands are threatened by drainage for farming and construction.Environment is being polluted, due to industrialisation and luxurious modern living.Man through the corridors of time, has sent several species of plants and animals into oblivion.Living resource conservation is necessary to maintain the essential ecological processes on which our survival and socio-economic development depend.
