THE BIBLE

The Authorised Version of the Bible is responsible for the introduction of a considerable number of words. The Bible had a strong formative influence on the style of many great writers and had a prominent role in shaping the literary language .It was the book of the people for 300 years and even the uneducated people where familiar with it by hearing it every sunday in the church. Hence unlike the words that originated with classical scholars the words from the Bible were easily adopted into the spoken language and had found a permanent place in English. The authorized version had a very strong influence on the technical grammar of the modern poetry.
